Paint Table Saturday 171th edition !
Welcome to paint table 171 !
Stardrake W.I.P. 5
Almost all the white is gone and filled with the base color + wash.
When this process is complete the highlighting can begin and we will see the light at the end of the tunnel.
I also started on the Stormcast Eternal. No progress on the wings and some additions to the base.

That's it for this weeks paint table.
See you at the next one !

Age of Sigmar : Stardrake W.I.P. 4

Little progress on the Stardake as I have not so much time to work on it.
I've painted the base color + wash for the bone ( horns , teeth and claws ), stone and gold.
The white is getting smaller...and the end is getting closer...

That's it for now. See you at the next W.I.P. or finished model ( wishful thinking )

Age of Sigmar : Added more detail on the Lord Celestant

As I was figuring out how to paint the Stardrake , I put 2 pictures together of my 2 Dracoth's that are finished. A blueish one and the purple Lord Celestant. And I noticed that I made an extra highlight on the blueish one and not on the purple one ( first painted in 2015 ). I liked the extra highlight more ,so I adjusted the Lord Celestant and gave the Dracoth's horns an teeth the extra highlight.
And the old pictures for comparison.

Age of Sigmar : Drakesworn Templar ( Lord Relictor conversion ) finished !

I just finished the Drakesworn Templar ( a Lord Relictor conversion from the Age of Sigmar box ).
I used parts from the Stardrake box ( head , sword & shield ) to create this fella.

A lone Drakesworn Templar can sunder an enemy’s battle line or stave in an entire flank of an army. Propelled by mighty wingbeats, the Stardrake hurtles into the foe, striking with impact enough to splinter hellforged armour. The Stardrake’s clawsrip through steel, raking down whole ranks of victims, while powerful jaws deliver a bite that can shear through a gargant’s leg with ease. From atop his saddle, the Stormcast Eternal swingshis lightning-wreathed weapon to smite all about him. When all of an Extremis Chamber’s Drakesworn Templars ride to war, they can level enemy strongholds or devastate entire armies.

All Drakesworn Templar aspirants attempt the Trials of Starwalking. Many return empty-handed, haunted by what they have seen, but some of the bravest encounter Dracoths.

A smaller percentage still are deemed worthy enough to find a solargem – nothing less than a Stardrake’s soul. Once, before the coming of Chaos, that newborn star material would return to the heavens to be reincarnated into a newly formed body. Since the great corruption, however, the souls often become trapped in the lower Heavens. They are protected by enchantments; only the most noble can see a solargem, and only those blessed with divinity can touch such purity. Even other Stormcast Eternals hold Drakesworn Templars in awe, recognising them as mystically pure beings and great champions of Order.

By returning a solargem to the heavens, a Stormcast Eternal forges a bond with a child of Dracothion, much as Sigmar and the Great Drake did in the Age of Myth. Stardrakes are no mere steeds of war, but an ancient race older and wiser than mankind. Seeing the collapse of reason and the growing menace of Chaos, the Stardrakes wish to do their part to restore the balance of Order, and thus do the celestial creatures willingly join Sigmar’s crusade. After a series of bonding rituals, Stormcast Eternal and immortal starbeast form a rapport – a union of minds where each instinctively understands the will of the other. Together, they seek not only revenge for the wreckage wrought upon the realms, but justice, for the Laws of Order demand that the guilty must be judged.

When not actively campaigning, the Templars and Stardrakes maintain their Stormhost’s Drakesworn Temple – the great star dome where their Extremis Chamber train and worship together.

Stardrake : day 2 W.I.P.

This was the end of day 1 : Assembled and base-coat.
Day 2 : 2 base-coats of  purple + a 50/50 mix of purple wash and airbrush thinner. All done by airbrush ( first time I washed the model with the airbrush and actually worked , done it before and failed , but not this time! )
Base-coated the wings black after doing the purple.
Dry brushed the purple 2 x with Genestealer and Lucius Lilac. And tested the second color ( fully done ) with the purple.
And I worked on the wings with the airbrush.
My inspiration was a beautiful sunset.
What do you think?
And that was the end of day 2.

Stormcast Eternals new player on the table .... Stardrake ... W.I.P.

So I started on the Stardrake with Lord Celestant.
I assembled the dragon as much as possible without being in trouble painting it.
And in the background still the Lord Relictor conversion into a Drakesworn Templar with parts from the Stardrake box..
 In basecoat so far ...
And for the color-scheme a combination of these...
A combination of the blue-ish dragon and purple dragon.
Blue-ish for the top part of the dragon + head and the purple for the bottom half (belly) and wings.
